Manifest Your Dreams

Be careful of what you wish for because it might come true. We have all heard that phrase before but have you ever stopped to wonder why we believe it? We are all familiar with the idea that if you wish hard enough and long enough for something, it will come true. I think somewhere inside of us this idea resonates because inherently we know that we have this ability, we know that we are the creators of our reality and that we can manifest our dreams.

I have been interested in manifestation for a long time and I have always thought you should be able to manifest your dreams. I am not exactly sure I know why I thought that, except to say that I have just had this deep knowing in my soul that it is possible. It turns out that this principle has been around for some time and it is commonly referred to as the "Law of Attraction". The "Law of Attraction" basically states that you will attract to yourself the things you think about the most. Therefore, if you mostly think about positive things happening that is what you will attract and if you think mostly about negative things happening that is what you will attract. In Mike Dooley's book "Infinite Possibilities”, he summarizes the law of attraction to mean thoughts become things. I think I would go a bit further and summarize it as our thoughts create our reality. So how can we use our thoughts to manifest our dreams and create the reality that we want? Let us explore this further.

First, we need to understand that the power to manifest is real, it is supported by science. To describe it in very general terms, science experiments have shown that matter acts differently when observed, which means reality is affected by the one observing that reality. Additionally, science experiments have also shown that everything in the universe is energy and that our thoughts are energy as well. Therefore, the energy of your thoughts can and will have an impact on the energy that you interact with in the universe. If you knew without a doubt that your thoughts could impact your reality, wouldn’t you be trying your best to have thoughts that created the reality you wanted? Doubting your ability to manifest your dreams will only hinder the process, so cast away those doubts and know that you do have the power to manifest your dreams.

Second, you need to examine your beliefs. This is important because you want to have your beliefs and what you are trying to manifest in alignment. If what you believe and what you are trying to manifest are not in alignment then this will create a block to your manifestation. Take some time to understand what your core beliefs are. What kind of negative or positive beliefs do you have about yourself or the world? For example, Do you see yourself as worthy or unworthy? Do you think the world is inherently good or bad? Where did these beliefs come from? For example, If you want to manifest writing a book but you believe you are not a good writer, that would create a block to your manifestation. You need to understand why you believe that you are not a good writer, did someone tell you that? Why are you believing what that person said? What are the ways can you dismantle what that person said? Do you have positive examples in your past of writing something you were proud of? Ask yourself what are the ways that you can create the belief that you have everything you need to be a great writer. Additionally, the things you say can reveal what your beliefs really are. Pay attention to the things you say to yourself and to others. Do you say things like “I’ll never make it” or “writing is too hard”? These are examples of your negative beliefs. Before you say these things, stop yourself and see how you can change that statement to something more positive.

Third, you need to change any negative beliefs and thoughts you have to more positive ones. Your thoughts and beliefs should be in alignment with manifesting your dreams. A good tool to help with this process is to use affirmations. We shall continue with the example used above, you could change your negative thoughts about your ability as a writer by using affirmations such as “ I am an excellent writer”, “writing comes easily and effortlessly to me” or “people love reading my writing”. Also general affirmations such as “I am talented”, “I am worthy” will help as well, because it is important that you feel deserving of your manifestation in order to make it real.

Now let’s discuss the mechanics of doing a manifestation. Start by defining what you want and get excited about it. What I mean by defining what you want is to think about the end result and not about how you are going to get there. Leave the hows up to the universe. See yourself as having already achieved your goal, imagine how it feels. Referring back to the example above, see the book you have written in your hands, feel the crisp new pages, smell the paper, see yourself signing your book at a bookstore, or doing an interview with a newspaper or TV show about your book. Spend a few minutes every day visualizing this scene. You could do this visualization just with your imagination or you could create a visualization board, scrapbook, or digital presentation to assist you.

Next, take action towards your goal every day. Back to the being a writer example, dedicate a few hours every day to writing. Get yourself in the mindset that you are a published author and you need to write every day. You could also take a writing class or workshop. You could join a writer’s association or club and meet with other authors. The important thing is to do something meaningful every day toward creating your manifestation.

Another technique, that is similar to taking action, is doing acts of faith. Have you ever heard the phrase fake it till you make it? That is what acts of faith are, they are things you do as if your manifestation has already happened. For example, you could write a letter to a family member or friend telling them about your new book. You wouldn’t mail it yet, you would put it some place to remind yourself that will be mailing it soon. Another example is to go to places where you could see yourself promoting your book and imagine yourself going there as part of your promotional tour.

Finally, there are some caveats to keep in mind when doing your manifestation. First, manifestation cannot be used to control or manipulate others, each person has free will and you cannot interfere with that. Next, using manifestation to get a car or house is good but you may find it even more rewarding to use it for expanding yourself in a broader sense by focusing on areas such as abundance, prosperity, health, or your spirituality. Lastly, if you find you are having trouble with your manifestation, you might want to take a look at your beliefs, doubts, and fears. You may be sabotaging your manifestation without realizing it. Moreover, it is important to keep in mind that manifestation or the law of attraction is just one aspect of our existence. The universe is always using all of its laws to help you grow and evolve, it may be providing an even better opportunity for you than you had imagined.

I have used the power of manifestation in my life and have always been amazed at the results. Additionally, I have learned, as with all things, the more I understand it and practice it, the better I get at it. It is an incredible power that we all have within us, the power to shape our reality. As it is said in Matthew 7:8, “For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Ask yourself what do you truly want, believe in your heart you deserve it, see yourself having already achieved it, take action every day towards it and you will be opening the door to manifesting your dreams.
